Due to an internal move we are now seeking an Engine Maintenance Controller on a fixed term initial 6 month contract, who will work as part of a 5 man team on a 24/7 rotating shift pattern. 

Primary accountabilities will be to: 
Lead and manage the overall functionality of the On-Wing Care(OWC) Front Desk when on shift.
Ensure that customer and business requirements are met, taking ownership to spot /resolve issues.
Co-ordinate maintenance task activities effectively across the rest of the team.
Co-ordinate technical instructions between customer and field service teams for live tasks.
Ensure the team is compliant with local and regulatory requirements.
Maintaining relationships with customers and suppliers of 3rd party maintenance providers.
Manage the generation of invoices to ensure debt levels are at or below budget.
Deliver regular process / business improvements ensuring OWC continues to move forward 

Essential Skills/Experience:

The role requires an individual with excellent inter-personal skills who can demonstrate both flexibility and perseverance, often in a time pressured environment. Significant ability to manage all the different requirements from customers, 3rd party maintenance providers and mechanics to achieve a positive outcome for all is fundamental to this role. 

Advantageous Skills: SAP experience, knowledge of finance and invoicing, resource planning and travel booking.

My client requires a Mechanical Hardware Unit Engineer with an appreciation of control systems hardware for one of the leading global organisations in the Aerospace industry. 

The role is to manage the specification, design, qualification and certification of accessories that are designed and supplied by external companies. It involves design approval, development engineering, technical report writing and a strong element of programme management. The role also includes responsibility for ensuring the suppliers achieve manufacturing engineering and quality requirements. 

Your main responsibilities will include the following; 
1. To produce the requirements for control units by understanding the gas turbine functional and non-functional requirements. Capture these requirements in DOORS or other tools mandated for the programme. 
2. To provide technical assessment of supplier proposals during the selection process. 
3. Liaise with suppliers to understand the functional performance capabilities of the selected control system hardware including sensors, actuators, filters, heat management, pumps and valves. 
4. To oversee the suppliers programme of work; manage and report deviations from programme. 
5. To review and approve the designs proposed by suppliers. Ensuring that the design meets the requirements and lessons learned on previous programmes are applied. 
6. To approve the suppliers functional and qualification test plans and reports. 
7. To support the integration of the units in the system and the testing of them. 
8. To support test bed running by providing acquired project specific control system knowledge. Analyse data to validate the control system design, investigate potential problems and propose appropriate solutions. To carry out environmental testing of the units and analyse the results to validate the requirements. 
9. To approve the supplier&amp;#39;s DDP (declaration of design and performance) which records the certification evidence that all the technical requirements for a unit have been met. To produce certification documentation. 
10. To solve technical problems by creating a detailed plan of work to solve them, drive colleagues in other departments and at the unit supplier to achieve the committed programme.

Essential Skills/Experience:

1. A mechanical engineering or mechanical systems background is required, rather than just electronics. Candidates need an appreciation of controls systems hardware and have the technical capability to be able to liaise with suppliers to understand the functional performance capabilities of the selected control system hardware including sensors, actuators, filters, heat management, pumps and valves. 
2. Have a degree in engineering, physics or maths. Relevant postgraduate experience is an advantage.
3. Have a demonstrated problem solving ability and be able to work to tight timescales. 
4. Have demonstrable programme management skills. 
5. Have good written and communication skills. 
6. Have good interpersonal skills. 
7. The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings will be an advantage.
